We went to Myakka River State Park today; one of Florida’s oldest parks opened in 1934. It is also one of Florida’s most diverse natural areas with 58 square miles of wetlands, prairies, hammocks and pinelands with areas for camping (i.e. parking the RV) to get away from it all!
The weather today was perfect, beautiful warm sunshine with a warm breeze every now and then. We climbed a viewing tower 74.5 feet high and got an amazing aerial view of the park before starting our hike. We rambled for 11 miles and didn’t see another sole. We did see 5 armadillo’s, an unwelcome invader responsible for decimating the insect population of the forests.
We also saw a buck and 7 does.
